Pioneer Trek

I spent 4 days last week tromping around Wyoming in a skirt. The wind almost never stops blowing and my face turned  immediately to leather.
All the handcarts.

Playing Ninja--I pretty much stink at this game.
Base Camp.

Your's truly on the left.
The storm on the horizon quickly caught up and spent the remainder of the day with us. It changed over to snow about 11:30 PM which we discovered when the wind blew down all our shelters--the first of several sleepless nights. Chilly!
Overall, good experience. Those pioneers--made of tougher stuff than I.

  1. Dramatic images. Sounds like a difficult time. Was it Lorenzo Snow who converted the Japanese assassins? Oh, and "Yours" is possessive, "Your's" is a contraction of "Your is." Just ribbing you, in keeping with one of your prior posts.

  4. Hey you re-vamped your blog page. Very cute! Looks fun...I was just reminiscing about pioneer treks past the other day and how it would be fun to go again.

  5. Nice pictures - look at that sky! And what's with the Ninjas/Ninja's?
Did you have to wear pants under those long skirts? Was it cold?

  6. Hello, yes, snow in the middle of the night, tarps blowing free--very cold. At least on day 1. It was hot by the end. We were supposed to wear bloomers of some sort. I wore old scrubs, some wore pj bottoms etc. Ninja is a game where in turn you attempt to whack your neighbor. You have one chance to move out of the way and then you have to freeze until it's time for the next attempt. Hageshii (violent).

  7. That storm does look ominous. On my pioneer trek we slept under the stars, which meant I could never relax enough to fall asleep, haha. Glad you got to go!
