Darn car.

On occasion (twice) as I've been driving on the freeway, the hood of the car has noticeably bounced up and down and I've had to pull over and close it tightly. (Ironically, it was the same friend riding with me both times who alerted me to the situation.)  Both times it happened after getting my oil changed--like the guy didn't latch it completely.

See how the hood's just a little open?

So after this most recent oil change, I thought I'd be proactive and make sure the hood was closed tightly before driving away. It would not latch.

This dumb little thing, whatever it's called--
No tension. Broken.
I curse it.

Had to tie knots in the bungee cords because they're too long.

The hood still goes up and down when I'm driving around Point of the Mountain but hopefully the bungee cords will prevent a Tommy Boy-type scenario.
"Don't you remember you told me you loved me baby...Aaaah!!!!"

  1. Maybe with those bungee cords it will just bounce up and down and make the rest of your car bounce up and down like you're a gangsta. That'd be awesome. And that is so the best part of the movie!!!!!

  3. Why didn't the guy who changed the oil alert you to the problem? Actually, why aren't you changing your own oil? The lever just connects to a bicycle-cable-like-thing. If you trace it, you may find it's just disconnected, or if at worst, you may identify the broken part and can order it. I like to order online from Rockauto.

  4. (chanting) new car new car new car

Isn't this also the car that has a broken gas gauge? And broken stereo? Yes, the smart and sensible thing to do would be to fix it, but really it's just time for a new car. One that has a little power and is comfortable to drive/ride in.

  5. If I give you money will you buy one for me? I can't stand the thought of going to a car lot and talking to a salesman.

  6. Yes! Just start test driving a bunch so you get a feel for what a modern car is like. I bet Amy would go with you. Be prepared to put money down when I come out there.

  7. Tell Nat to get a job at a car dealership, then he can get you a discount. Marisa did that for me with a nice pair of running shoes. Actually, I should post a picture of those. Hmm...
