Moth Terror

Does this picture not make you shudder?

The other night I started drifting off to sleep before I'd turned out the light. I opened my eyes after however many minutes of those weird half-awake dreams and saw a black thing on the ceiling. At first I thought it was a cockroach and sat bolt upright in bed. Then I realized it was a moth!

Mind you this was during all that rain we had just a week or two ago so all my doors and windows had been closed for days. Where had it been hiding that it suddenly appeared full grown in my bedroom? Germinating in my closet?? Sick!!

I trapped it in my very small bathroom and I had to go in there to try and dispose of it. Horrifying. It took a good fifteen minutes of shrieking and swatting before I was finally successful. Totally overwrought.

The next day I was out working in the yard and I felt a tickle on my leg, I looked down all annoyed and there was a moth crawling on me! I totally screamed and did a freakish little dance trying to get the thing off me. I know the guy who lives behind me totally witnessed everything.

I hate moths.

  1. I had one fluttering in the windowsill above my bed the other night. I eventually sacrificed the last little bit of spray&wash to kill it. I dislike them with a passion - especially when they are fluttering above my head at 1:00am

  2. You seriously make me laugh! I wish I lived behind your house so I could have watched the whole scene of terror in your yard. There are people who are specially trained in moth desensitizing that could help you with your problem. I told Megan and Kelly today that we should do some shock therapy and bring a jar of moths over for you to keep on your dresser. That way you and the moths could learn to co-exist and then they would not have to be viciously swatted to death.

  3. You seriously hate moths that bad? I would have loved being a "fly on the wall" to watch your cute little dance. Would have giggled for hours!!

  4. My stomach is seriously heaving at the thought of moths in a jar on my dresser. It kind of makes me think of that book, 1984, where they torture a confession out of the guy with rats...

  5. I never knew we had so much in common! I despise moths! I saw two of the biggest moths I've ever seen in my life up here the other day. It was so gross! I would rather have spiders over moths any day!
