Love the rain, but...

Dead bird in the flower pot!!
It has been raining quite a lot and apparently the storms are causing the death of birds in the vicinity of my house. Could the bird have fallen anywhere besides right into one of the newly planted pots intended for Crystelle's reception?
I had a shriek hovering in the back of my throat before, during and after removal of the bird! The geranium stem was caught in its wing so I couldn't just quickly tip the thing out, I had to extract it. I was completely traumatized.
This is the second dead bird in as many weeks, maybe there's an electric forcefield hovering over my property. I'm sure that's it, or West Nile Virus.
Side note: Apparently my little sojourn in Jordan killed all my opinions, neuroses, hang-ups etc. The proverbial well seems to have run dry! Consternated? Yes. Constipated? Possibly. I'm going to have cut back to weekly posts until I've acquired enough stress to inspire outbursts, it seems. Just a theory.

on another note... outside my office for the paper in ephraim we had a ledge and a dead bird was out there all year.... i would've called someone to clean it up if i'd known who to call... anyway... everytime i looked out the window i felt like crying. so sad.

  2. My neighbor is complaining that this much rain is making his roses suffer. Perhaps the poor birds are disoriented in the storm and/or are blown into the eaves of your house. Who can tell. Can any good come out of Nazareth? Yes and it would appear that good things happen in Jordan as well....if it can cure you of a lifetime of neuroses.

  3. Wow! That was a funny story. I wish I could have been there to watch you. Our cat kills several birds each year and I have yet to pick one up. I just can't make myself do it so I totally understand how traumatizing that must have been. If you ever want to practice your "dead bird picking up" skills you can always over and we'll find one for you. Luckily Malcolm is here and he picked up the last one we found. And by the way do you have a million birds in your yard this year? Because we seem to have an excessive amount of birds right now and they are so loud. And don't worry: your stress will be back soon enough and then you can blog about your outbursts again.

  4. You need a good pair of tongs. Garden tongs.

Time abroad has killed your neuroses? Or maybe just tempered. That's good, now you can write about other stuff like what's going on in your life or things/music/food/books/movies you've discovered. But posts about burnt corn tortillas, condiments and black skirts are quite entertaining.
Have you tried making anything with quinoa yet?

  5. That is gross. That is one of the times it is good to have a man around. I make him do all those gross things now.
